PRIME Minister John Howard has agreed to investigate why Wollongong Hospital staff member Christine Min was overlooked in the Bali honours list.

Ms Min, a Thirroul resident and clinical manager of the hospital's accident and emergency department, spent 22 hours in Sanglar Hospital treating victims of the Bali bombing last October.

She was on holidays when the Kuta Beach bombs were detonated and worked alongside Wollongong surgeon Dr John Hogg and his wife, physiotherapist Linda Hogg, to help the injured.

The Federal Member for Cunningham Michael Organ said recognition delayed was recognition denied and he had written to the Prime Minister twice asking to investigate why Ms Min's efforts were overlooked.

Mr Howard, during Question Time in Parliament yesterday, said he was not aware Ms Min had been overlooked in the Bali honours and promised to investigate.

He pointed out to Mr Organ that decisions and recommendations for these awards were through an independent, arms-length process from Government.
