I Know Who Killed Me

Icon, 105 min, MA, thriller, 2007

1/5

What was she thinking? What on earth made Lindsay Lohan believe that making this movie was a good idea? Chris Sivertson's clunky, lurid mystery is a tale of divided selves, in which Lohan plays Aubrey, an earnest, high-achieving college student who goes missing, and there are fears she has been the victim of a serial killer who has been terrorising the neighbourhood. When she's found, she is not what she was: she is missing an arm and a leg, and has gained a new identity. Now she insists that she's not Aubrey but someone else entirely: a pole-dancer whose crack addict mother recently died. It's actually not that difficult to work out what's going on: the challenge is to stay the distance and find out what other absurdities the filmmakers are prepared to heap on us. There could be a perverse fascination in this film for Lohan-watchers, who can draw parallels between the puzzling double life of Aubrey and the contrasting careers Lohan has carved out: the promise of those Parent Trap, Freaky Friday years (still evident in A Prairie Home Companion) and her subsequent life in the tabloid party girl rehab spotlight.

DVD extras include: alternate opening/ending; extended sequence; bloopers.
