Bitter and Twisted

2/5 (85 min) M

Earnest, well-intentioned but dramatically inert Australian drama about the pain felt by a suburban family three years after the loss of a child. As the ceaselessly grieving parents, Noni Hazelhurst and Steve Rodgers are very good, but there really is only so much moping one can stand. The story simply does not move, preferring to invite the audience to merely wallow along with its cast. -- JIM SCHEMBRI
