This half-hearted, scatter-brained comic misfire has the once-funny Jim Carrey playing a listless loser whose life turns around when he stops saying "no" to everything and starts saying "yes". If the premise sounds a little familiar that's because your mind is trying to revive the folk memory of Carrey's 1997 mega-hit Liar Liar, in which a lawyer's life turns around when he starts telling the truth. The big difference is that then Carrey knew how to make us laugh. These days his chief preoccupation is to make us wince. -- JIM SCHEMBRI
